About Fenland Gymnastics Academy
The club had very basic beginnings at West Walton Primary School where it met after school on a Monday. Founded by Kirstie Harrison and assisted by husband Stewart, the club became an instant success with over half the school roll being enthusiastic members.
In 2009, the club was forced to move to a permanent built gymnastic facility in the town. Volunteers worked tirelessly to move the equipment to the new venue on Algores Way and to prepare the facility for incoming gymnasts! The club opened in December 2009 and remains there to this day. The coaching team expanded to meet increased demand to include ten plus volunteer helpers.
In May 2014, Claire Port was appointed the new head coach and since then the club has gone from strength to strength. The gymnasts at the club started to place in competitions and the amount of members grew. The club started to offer boys gymnastics and pre-school sessions alongside the recreational and women's artistic classes.
Throughout 2015 and 2016 the club continued to grow and at the end of 2016 the club was now full to capacity with 220 members and another 220 on the waiting list wanting to join.
The club has an amazing team of volunteer coaches who work extremely hard to ensure that every member has the opportunity to reach his/her potential whilst having fun along the way!
